A Musical Week – Once Upon this Island at Castlefield (Brighton)

The musical week finished on a tropical note (which belied the cold stormy winds of Friday night) with Castlefield's production of Once Upon this Island. I hadn't previously heard of this musical which explores the issues of love, discrimination and death. The student-singing was sensational, led by the extraordinary voice of Year 7 student, Stephanie Ganotis. This was an all-action musical which gave the students great opportunities to perform many energetic numbers on stage. As with the other two musicals, the staff band was superb and the whole performance warmed the soul on a cold Melbourne night.
