Edrington students exploring new opportunities
20090814 Friday 14 August 2009
Junior and Middle School students at Edrington have been very busy developing a range of skills and exploring new opportunities. I have received the following reports from Edrington:
Junior School
This week in the Edrington Junior School the students are very excited about the induction of our new House Leaders. Each term eight new leaders are elected by their peers. This allows all of our Year 4 students to have experience in leadership. They are looking forward to the Assembly this Friday and to organising the next House event which will be The House Sports Day.
Jason in Year 4 says that he could not be happier about being elected as House Captain for his particular House. He will take great pride in his new responsibility.
Tania Rigg – Year 4 Teacher
Middle School
The Middle School Academic Colours Assembly was held on Friday, 7 August, at Edrington. Many students aspire to attain Academic Colours and those who are very close are awarded a Certificate of Merit. It provides incentive and direction for all students to perform consistently well in their academic studies.
Jason Hibberd – Head of Boys Middle School Edrington
I received Academic colours for the first time on Friday, 7 August. Seeing my name on the list was great because it has been something that I have been working really hard towards. Now I have been able to reach this standard I know I can do it again if I work hard enough.
Jeremy – Year 6 Edrington
Congratulations to Megan in Year 7. She was recently showcased at an assembly in recognition of her remarkable sporting achievement in Hockey. Megan has been playing hockey for seven years, inspired by her mother and grandmother, both of whom played Hockey for many years themselves. Megan’s achievements include selection to play for Victoria and she is eagerly awaiting her trip to Coffs Harbour in October.
Jane Gibbs – Head of Girls Middle School
Ever since I was a little girl I watched my mum play Hockey, which made me want to start playing. I train up to four times a week and usually play two games each week. Although it takes up a lot of my time, I really love it. I’m very excited about playing for the State team in October. It should be a great challenge.
