Year 4 Mathematics at Edrington, Berwick

A big thank you to Christopher in Year 4 at Edrington, who has been keeping me informed about his progress in Maths:
Dear Principal Scott,
My name is Christopher Parsons and I would like to tell you about what has been happening in mathematics in Year 4. Our new ‘Times Table Challenge’ is fun, exciting and helps us to improve our automatic response. My favourite part of the Challenge is competing against Mrs Rigg. During Mental Maths, the grade gets a point for each question that we all answer correctly. The whole class is working towards achieving twenty out of twenty. We cover all aspects of mathematics, from algebra to simplifying and adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. The last thing I would like to tell you about is speed maths. During speed maths, we have to answer fifty questions as fast as we can with accuracy. I am trying to keep my time under fifty seconds.
